Dear head-fiers,

Thanks for the replies in the past thread. I've finally decided that the Koss Porta Pro would be my choice. But, I just want to clarify something in this thread. First of all, this thread is exclusively aimed at people who have at least a bit of knowledge/experience with the Sony MDR-ZX300.

I've searched online and found a few websites that told that the ZX300s (the ones I currently have) are a good piece of headphones for the price. I, having never used other headphones, don't know how they compare to others. My headphones are never mentioned in the best recommendations by people, while the Koss Porta Pros are very well known for their great sound in the sub 100$ range. So, I want to know if the upgrade is worth it, especially since my current phones aren't damaged sounds wise and like the Porta Pros are open backed and don't cancel noise, which means the only advantage would be comfort, portability and (according to reviews) better sound. This is not in any way to doubt the quality of Porta Pros, but to just know the difference. So far, I think they are worth the upgrade, I want to hear from y'all. Thanks for reading.

They're not worth it. They're both about on the same level quality-wise. The PortaPro may sound a little more clear, but they'll probably have worse bass extension and impact. They also feel a bit cheap. If you want an actual upgrade, I recommend the Grado SR60e or SR80e with the "L cushions" for around $80.
