Hello,

There are so many headphones out there (specificaly in the price-range to 250$). And yet I still can't figure out what to buy

I had Sony 7506 - sold them. Greate sound for my taste, awlful comfortability. And how to really enjoy it if your ears hurt?
I bough AT A900 - dissapointed, the music just don't speak to me through these. Yes I appreciate their sound stage, but the bass and mids... Are they kidding me?.
Compared to the 7506 they just don't sound good, rather artifical... I guess i don't care that much for the sound stage, but rather for right tonal balance.

Now, again I am looking for something else - similar to 7506 in sound, but comfortable. Can anybody help me or had similar experience/taste?
I'll be very thankful for any guidance on what to do.

I enjoy rock, pop, classical music (occasionally) , the good old dance hits. Some of my favorite artists are:
Metallica, Deep Purple, Joe Satriani, Micheal Jackson, Guns and roses, George Micheal, Bad Seeds, Sting, Scorpions, Roxette, 2 Unlimited, Masterboy, Frank Sinatra etc.
Sorry, not very specific I guess...

Would you prefer an answer from someone who has no idea what they're talking about, or nothing?

Hi there,

I went through a similar process. However, I quite liked the ATH-A900, and did not find the sound artificial as you do. Rather, I found them to be very hot on my ears after a short period of time.

I am thinking you may enjoy the Grado SR-225.

I really don't get the popularity of the 7506. I've tried it several times, and, to me, it's just a horribly uncomfortable headphone that sounds lifeless, flat, and boring.

Beyer DT990 (2005 ed.) might be just what you want.
Sounds similar to my V6, but better overall SQ in every way.
Also PRO 900 is even better, to my ears.
HFI-780 is another in the same vein as V6/7506.
But nicer SQ, which is what you want.
None of my named cans can be called "lifeless".
Or uncomfortable, either! To me, anyway.

Now, I never use my V6 anymore, after getting all the above cans.

For anyone that doesn't already know it, the V6/7506 are same SQ in slightly different packaging.

Maybe I just have an alien head... and/or ears, for that matter!

If you want closed in that range, I'd suggest checking out the Beyer DT-250 250. Less treble than a 7506 and better deep bass (as in, its there and less obscured by a midbass hump).

Much more comfy, too.

Thank you, I'll try dt990 if I can. I guess my ears are bigger and it bothers me when 7506 are pressing against instead of just touching your head (as many other headphones are). That's way I don't consider Grado - most of their models are pressing against your ears.

I was considering both of them. But the sa5000 is slighly expensive for me, so I am hesitating. Maybe second hand...
Otherwise are the 7509 more comfy than 7506? Are they covering your ears and only touching your head?
