the one on my PS1 (I'm pretty sure it has the same headband as the RS1) doesn't look like leather.

SR60 - SR225 & MS1 - Share the same vinyl headband
SR100/200/300 (Joe Grado) - Share the same thin LEATHER headband, but it differs from the SR325 headband
SR325/MS2 - Thin, LEATHER headband
RS-1, RS-2, PS-1 - All share the same LEATHER headband, though the assemblies differ between the PS-1/RS-1 and the RS-2
HP-1000 - LEATHER headband of the highest quality

Neil is right on across the board. It seems that only the RS-1 ever came with brown leather. Mind are of that flavour.

so the PS1 has leather headbands... but they really do not look like leather compared to all the other examples of leather on headphones I have around.

are there any pictures of the brown leather grado headband? I would be interested in seeing one.

The MS-1 has thin black pleather wrapped over a metal headband - nice and retro.

The MS2 and SR325 I've had experience with both had leather headbands, albeit cheap ones that were very thin and of poor grain. Perhaps you fellas have newer models in which more budget cuts forced the use of pleather (or simply aren't distinguishing between low-quality leather and pleather). . Perhaps I'm confusing "high-quality" pleather with low-quality leather!

I'm almost positive that the entire RS-2/RS-1/PS-1 headband is full leather. The bottom is simply suppler because it's padded, but the entire leather band is all leather, IIRC. I bet John Grado would answer this one...

My RS-2 appears has a leather both top and bottom (a padded softer black leather on the bottom). I think NeilPeart is right.
