Dear Friends,

I want to purchase the headamp GSX Mini soon. I want to purchase a suitable DAC to use with it I'm thinking of RME ADI-2 DAC FS to use with it. Initially I was thinking of Chord Qutest which is a great match and also confirmed by Justin but I'm leaning towards the RME since it has many more advantages, specially the built in amp for iems which is great, the display is cool and many good options, I prefer it over the qutest.

Before making a purchase decision just wanted to check with you guys how the combination would be, if it is way bad or sharp sounding with the RME, definitely I'll buy the qutest.

Please share your opinion.

The RME easily bests anything at it's price point and others costing considerably more. It's accurate to the source signal without becoming overbearing like other pro DACs. I've never heard the GSX mini, but most people think it leans slighy warmer than neutral. In that context, I believe the two would provide a well balanced configuration. Interestingly enough, the mini is on my short list for my next amplifier too.

Thanks for your response. I'm also planning to buy the RME ADI-2 DAC FS. and GSX Mini for me is kind of end game amp. According to Justin from headamp the best match is Chord Qutest but the RME just gives so much more than it's price and with the added features. Just need to be sure it is a good pairing.

Had this combination for some time and while it is very good, I eventually sold the Qutest because I wanted to go balanced all the way. Yes, I know the Mini gives you balanced even from SE inputs but for me it wasn’t the same...maybe a cable thing, who knows.
Anyway, you can’t get wrong with this setup.

Thanks for confirming. Sure I hope so and RME has balanced output as well. RME is better in every way than the qutest. Another problem is Qutest is almost 5 years till release and Chord might release a newer version soon.
