Hi bmichels

Nice rig there. I spotted an 813? Is it an RCA 1943?
I have those in my amp. Also some nice Mullard 813 made by Philips in France about same vintage.

Mullard CV26
Interesting. Mullard CV26 is a copy of the 813 which RCA invented. Most Mullards are actually made in France by RTC or Philips I am told. I have a set of 4 Mullards branded in my stash, with made in france on the back.
The Mullards have a more hexagonal shield, the RCA rounded. Mullards tend to sound better, but not in all cases....

URGENT Question: My tube supplier needs to match my EL34 Quad. He wonders what plate voltage and what Bias voltage he should use to match them for a BHSE ?

Also can someone tell me what plate curent (mA) should be expected for a perfect NOS ? is the higher mA the better ?

thanks in advance for your advices

The BHSE has +/1400 volt supplies. According to Kevin Gilmore, EL34 tubes run at 18mA plate current - this is set by the current loads, and the original BH cathode was at '350 volts, so a cathode to plate voltage of 350V should be close. For matching, he could run the EL34 triode connected with 350V cathode to plate voltage, adjust the plate current to 18 mA and match grid voltages.

Is there a general consensus about which headphone sounds best with the BHSE? I am debating on getting a set of SR009S, or 007mk1(70xxx) to add to the BHSE I'll be receiving next week.

Each will have a preference I'm sure, but BHSE is the first amplifier that truly opened up the 007 mk 1 for me--until then I never understood the fuss, but now they are my favorite. But they don't quite work for the 009, in my opinion, which I pair with a Mjölnir-Audio KGSSHV mini Carbon.

Makes sense, thank you! I see people talking about modded 007mk2.5 with the BHSE. I also read about the 009s. Are either of these the bees knees with the BHSE over the 007mk1?

I have one set of 007A but haven't modded it, and frankly was never crazy about the earlier versions of them. I think the 007, which sounds like nothing on most STAX drivers, maybe with the exception of the 14S, sounds crazy good on the BHSE, so I use that pairing. Maybe others can weigh in on the 007A pairing with BHSE.

I decided to make the video private so that I can discuss the instructions with anyone who needs it, make sure they have the right equipment, and make sure they understand the purpose of the adjustments and see if adjustments are truly necessary. We've had a couple of instances of amps damaged by abuse, which is not covered under warranty.
