[size=small]Who here likes wine?

I know a lot of us drink beer and seems some of us like scotch...(we know Duggeh likes his gin!)...but who hear enjoys a nice glass of wine?
Red, white, both? If you like rose, don't tell anyone. Champagne, ports, etc drinks also welcome.

I love a good wine almost as much as a good gin. But port. Oh port. My Kryptonite. So delicious and so chronically hangover inducing. So after dinner perfection and so following morning destruction.

I like almost any port, especially with some good cheese. But as far as wine is concerned, I think that my reasonable favourite is Wolf Blass Yellow Label.

-edt- A boozy 1300th post.

Well technically I'm not legal yet, but my dad lets me have some of his wine occasionally since he's a huge wine nut. My personal favorite is Bordeaux. Tried an '01 Lafite and it was amazing even though it wasn't set to mature for another ten years.

I am enjoying a Chenin Blanc right now, but I had a great Cotes du Rhone earlier this week. I usually open a bottle have a couple glasses, then have another two the next day. Unfortunately my girlfriend doesn't care for wine.

I'm drinking a glass of 2005 Curran Grenache Blanc as I type this. What's wrong with rose, not counting white Zinfandel of course? I love wine; red, white, rose, dessert, port, sherry and brandy. They're all wonderful in their own way. It's great living 30 minutes from first class wine country.

BTW, I'd answer your poll if I understood the question and all the answers. But I must admit that I don't. I don't think it's the wine, but ...

When I first starting dating my wife, her idea of a good wine was Gallo White Zinfandel. So I started educating her. I'm afraid that I've created a monster. We belong to the wine clubs of 5 different wineries.

So there is hope yet for your girl friend. Slowly work her into it and teach her. If that fails, well there are lots of win loving fish in the sea.

I recently fell in love with red wine. Need some really CHEAP but good recommendations. Seems a glass of red wine would be perfect to some chill time with my K501s and tubes

It was related to me that the Baron Von Rothschild once said "I will drink the White when the Red, it is completely gone" - I am not quite there, but close.

I drink ten to twenty bottles of Red to one of White.

I tend to stay at or near the Shiraz/Cabernet/Merlot end of the spectrum.

I like and drink Ports, too (after all, I AM a Deep Sea Mariner - you know, "any port in a storm")

Being a representative of the country where this lovely wine is produced I should be able to do some recomendations.

I don't know how much Port costs in the US but here you can get high quality vintages and LBV's(late bottled vintages) (often more than 30 years old) for less than 100€(125$).

I have some port wine bottles myself which are probably over 60 years old!

That said I would recomend that you get a known brand such as Taylor's or Graham with 10-20 years old. That will give a good price-quality ratio.

I personally prefer late bottled vintages.

This is the official website of the Institute of Port Wine. There you will many useful info regarding Port.

If you ever want to visit Portugal an the wonderful Douro Wine Region, let me know! I can be your guide!!!

Red wine is the only thing I drink. Generic box wines for everyday, and nice Italian (Tuscan) wines for special occasions. Favorite wines from Tuscany? Gotta be the Super Tuscans, such as Sassicaia, Ornellaia, and Tignanello. Molto buono!
