Hey all...

I just recently discovered the Home Theater Forum and I know about the existance of search engines but I am very curious what other forums, about tech stuff for the most part, but other things like cars/guns/computer or office chairs/DYI speakers/WHATEVER

, would be welcome too...

I could just do random searches in Google but I'm much more curious what fellow head-fiers visit (forum-wise), aside from head-fi

Thanks, I really appriciate it.

Being the computer type of person I got here from 3DSoundSurge's Forums much before I knew that I'd end up with HD580s, PortaPros, iPod or META/Gillmore/CMOY ... oh wait I still don't got an amp...there's time

well umm I'm obsessed too but that I'm not looking for other HEADPHONE places, rather other places that are AS filled with advice on things ... another computer place for video people I suppose is Doom 9's forums. That one's like all about video encoding, head-fi's like all about headphones, then I'm curious what else is there ... nothing, eh? look no further?

keep 'em commin'...

and naturally there are "best communities" of different kinds (or ones that'd like to think of themselves as best anyhow
very_evil_smiley.gif
) but yeah, that was my main idea when I decided to start this thread ... I know there are forums about EVERYTHING
biggrin.gif
, I was just curious what are the ones folks on here visit, and so far I've seen a bunch of really cool ones that I'd like to eventually give a bit more attention to in the future ... especially that Digital Photography one and the MiniDisc T-station...

/.'s sooooooooooo not for me...unless I decided to LIVE there...too many posts make my head spin and hurt and ahhh the posts are neat to check out tho

The only other forum I visit much is the 1911 forum. It's about handguns.
There is also a Mopar forum I go to about 4 times a year.

Neither is as well run or as friendly as here. Although the 1911 forum is nice, there are limits on PMs and their moderators are bit trigger happy when it comes to closing threads. I think the PM message size limit is raised if you donate to support the forum. I hope so anyway, because 150 word PM is rather short.

I also find a comparison of numbers interesting.
The 1911 forum: Members: 13,902, Threads: 46,198, Posts: 375,302
Here: Members: 6,104, Threads: 34,967, Posts: 398,020
We have half the members and fewer threads but more posts.

The Mopar forum is a whopper with: Registered Members: 24,027
Total Threads: 66,118 | Total Posts: 400,289
Notice that they have almost 4 times the members, and nearly twice the threads but not many more posts than we have here. We must be quite a chatty bunch.

I hope the links work. I am always autologged in webforums, so I don't know if the addresses are different for non-members.

That´s true, there's nothing like Head-Fi out there, but some cool audio places are:
The Soundstage Network (portal)
Different sites for each level or focus interest (home theather, audiophile, pro, consumer hi-fi, etc). Renewed in a monthly basis.

Other sites don't have much valuable content or are renewed yearly or rarely.
