I've been trying for several weeks to figure out what happened to a pair of RE-262's that I paid to have fixed (the wires had frayed). I sent them in on November 8 and was sent back a defective pair (the right ear didn't work and the cord was so short it didn't even reach to my waist). Ms. T. instructed me to send those back with a note and she said a working, replacement pair would be sent back immediately.

I sent those back -- on my own dime -- and got confirmation that they were received on November 23 -- more than two weeks ago. I sent an email to Ms. T. on November 29, to which I received no reply, and sent another email to Zhang, Fang, and Ms. T on December 5; I haven't gotten any replies to that one, either.

I'd love to know when I can expect a working replacement. Thanks.

An update on my situation: finally, today, 17 days after USPS says Head-Direct received notice of the package, Ms. T told me "Most likely the package has already been returned to you." That obviously didn't happen -- as the USPS confirmation page clearly shows. Aaargh.

We are sorry for the inconvenience and we are eager to get this resolved. Unfortunately, we never received your RE-262. We will work to take care of this asap.

Could you check about that output impedance again? After listening to both my HM-801 via GAME module versus HM-801 line out via Burson Soloist to Unique Melody Miracle 6 BA driver CIEM, I do think the GAME card has a higher output than 1 Ohm. The treble is a little boosted in from the GAME card compared to the Soloist.

ClieOS has measured the output impedance of the Balanced amp card himself and he says in the below post:
"HM801 has a 10 ohm output impedance (balanced amp module, higher with other amp module)"
http://www.head-fi.org/t/597981/renewed-at-2012-03-12-the-new-hifiman-802-new-ui-named-tai-chi/645#post_8929060

And here the Standard and GAME module are stated to have respectively 18 Ohm and almost 34 Ohm output impedance:

The source of the above web page is Sonove, and the graph looks like this for Standard (Default) and GAME (IEM ampcard) modules respectively:

Hello EricHD,

Did you check this?

I honestly don't know what to think about this, as I find myself preferring the GAME amp module to the Balanced one with the UM Miracle. In terms of the reported output impedance, it should the other way around.

Okay, thanks. My question was because you first said that it was 32 Ohm and then that it was 1 Ohm.

Hi, I'm sorry, but what is exactly the question you want to know? The output impedence of HM-801 with Game module is 32ohm.

Thank you very much Eric for answering the many questions in this thread.

I have one of my own.

Is it possible to see the manufacturing date of a headphone (say the HE-500)? I have yet to order my headphones (will do so on Friday) but I was just curious if it was possible to know the date.

Also were any additional revisions done to the HE-500 besides the silver cable?

There will be printed stickers on the drivers that I think indicate what date the drivers are manufactured. The format is YMMDDNNN, so if it's made on June 15, 2012, and is the 250th driver made in that particular revision, then the code would be 20615250.

E.g. my HE500s are coded 20527197/198, while my HE400s (rev2 drivers directly after the recall early october) are coded 2101105/06.
