Hello,

Will be using a modmic and want to find which of the two will be more suitable for my tastes:

-Immersion/Soundstage

-Natural Sound Signature/Which sounds more realistic

-Not too Bassy yet some bass for immersion

-Listen to all genres/which is more versatile for music

-Play mainly sandbox/FPS, sometimes competitive, mostly casual.

-Price: Under 300

-Build Quality

-Comfort

Thank you for helping me find my ideal HP!

It might help to know what sources your plugging the headphones into?
Do you have a DAC/head amp?

Haven't heard the 598's but have the 600's and 650's and own the 280's and 700's for gaming I would pick the 400S for sure. YMMV of course.

  Have Astro Mix-amp Pro 2013

If your using the Astro mix-amp with a gaming console, just buy a used Sennheiser HD558 and remove the black rubber tape from inside the cups.
Audio Technica ATH-AD700(X) also makes a good FPS gaming headphone, but is very bass light.
Make sure Dolby is enabled in the gaming consoles audio settings.

If your using the Mix-amp with a PC, replace the Mix-amp with a Creative Labs Sounds Blaster Z sound card.

I feel like 598 would be reliable and less heavier, also more efficient to drive
Then why did you ask for a opinion if you already think you know ?

Positioning ques on the 598 are crap IMO. Also not an emersive headphone for gaming. They're a slower paced musical headphone with bloom, sparkly treble and just enough presence to help you fall asleep
