I'm currently running the he560, and find the weight just tolerable, and the sound quality is phenomenal, excepting that the I find the treble slightly sibilant.

In the lineup, are the HEX's a straight upgrade over the HE-560, or is it give and take, and if not, are there other planar options that just a bit less harsh in the trebles? NOTE: I find the Audeze's just a bit too heavy, so unless they suddenly got lighter, they're probably not an option.

Look into Audeze LCD pro. Audeze did indeed suddenly get lighter

That is an interesting update, though the comments from those who actually tried them were cautiously optimistic or unimpressed, which worries me.

You won't get much lighter in the world of planar magnetics than the HE-560. I would look into dynanics.
I was only able to try them for a short time, but I was okay with the TH900's weight. According to the stats I could find, the HEX is in the same ballpark, though after extended wearing, who knows.

Both the TH900 and HE-X weigh more than the HE-560. (375grams for 560 and 400grams for both TH900 and HEX). HE-X is definitely less bright than the HE-560 in the treble, but the pads that come with the HE-560 also affect its treble as well. The Focus pads it usually ships with have a large 4-5khz peak, while the optional Focus-A pads (which were originally its preproduction pads) bring that peak down about 4db or so.

I just meant that the TH 900's weren't uncomfortably heavy for the 10 min I wore them, and both should about 400 g, like you said. The pads are interesting idea to try and solve the problem. I like the way the HE560 fit now, will the new pads change that dramatically?
