I am still working on a summery comparing the two models. Both headphones have now had more time to brake in and the differences are becoming clearer.
I did preveously post the following on the LCD-4 thread:
Update: LCD-4 vs HE1000
I found a few surprises I thought I would share. At first I was surprised just how similar both these headphones sounded (or could sound). I found the LCD-4 needed more power then previous models to open up and shine. Audeze did make it clear to me that the LCD-4 requires more power then the LCD-3 (to get the best out of them). Now the surprise was the change when using the HE1000 with less power. They became thin up top and muddy in the mids & bottom. These cans clearly require more power to sound good. Where as the LCD-4 benefits from more power if you want to get the best out of them. To clarify, you can still enjoy the LCD-4 with less power, where as the HE1000 becomes much less enjoyable. As in I do not want to listen to them unless I have an amp with a lot of power available to drive them.
Even though the HE1000 is 35 ohm and the LCD-4 is 100 ohm the Audeze's are clearly more efficient. Those powerful magnets in the LCD-4 must be the reason for this. The HE1000 seems reminiscent of the HE6 needing some serous power to perform. I believe the HE1000 are still a lot more efficient then the HE6 was but, the LCD-4 is clearly much more efficient of the two.
Both of my headphones are still braking in and I'm hearing some changes along the way. I will wait and see if I can confirm this conclusion next week when I have more burn-in time on each (I have both plugged in 24/7 playing music at a low to medium volume level).
Dude,any more updates?

These headphones are becoming ridiculous expensive and very close to the price of the lower end of top tier speakers.
At that price you might just buy PSB Imagine T3, or Klipsch Palladium series etc, way better than the headphones, just an idea. IMO only.
Are you delusional . There is no way the speakers you mentioned are anywhere near as resolute as either of these phones . But you are right about the ever escalating prices of esoteric gear it is fast becoming a rich persons hobby .

You are right, dude. It's extremely rare to find speakers that are so revealing, yet so musical with it. To get a similar level of performance from speakers would cost 10 times as much.

That depends! I am here researching HE-1000's for a possible purchase, but I had to reply to this. I recently picked up a pair of Veritas 2.8s along with an Aragon 4004 (same "rated" power as the venerable 8008BB) with the whole package at $3000 (would be net $3300 if I sidegrade to the 8008BB, I am still thinking about it). To my ears, this combo will be hard to be for any headphones... because physics. Speakers just have so much more to work with like larger and multiple driver setups, the cabinet designs, etc. On the downside, a good room and placement is pretty important for full enjoyment. If you are willing to look at used stuff from one of the the hifi golden ages(IMO), some excellent experiences can be had for a fraction of the used gear's MSRP, and I would put some of the old gear up against anything I have heard in listening rooms recently.
P.S. a big part of that $3000 I paid was freight. Shipping a 80ish lb amp (with packing materials) wasn't cheap, and the 2.8's are 100 lbs a piece and had to be crated and then mounted to a pallet to be shipped via freight from CA to KCMO. If you are lucky enough to get a local deal, speakers like this can probably be had for hundreds cheaper.

Hate to bump this, but I am very curious as to if anyone can compare these two.

Is the Auralic Taurus MKII a good match with the HE-1000?
I'm sure it's a "good" match, yes. So far the GS-X MK2 and Moon Neo 430HAD have been my top picks though, but they're very pricey in comparison.

Did you actual hear T3 ? My cheaper Martin Logan already sound much better than HD800 or Fostex TH900/HE6.
With a good flagship sub like SVS, HSU etc it's no match.

Just for the record, the 200 ohm LCD-4 are less efficient than the HE1-K. I have to raise the volume on my Burson Soloist 4-5 clicks (these are rather course click too) to get the same volume level as the HE-1K.

Two hour assessment (reposted from he-1k thread)
1. He-1k more comfy. Lighter of course!
2. Massed instruments and vocals slightly more separated ,somewhat less grainy on HE-1k
3 LCD-4 a little more kick and punch and a bit more forward sounding.
4. He-1k more forgiving of lesser recordings.
5. LCD-4 a bit more open & resolute, but close.
6. LCD 4'a bit deeper soundstage, the HE-1K a wider soundstage.
7. HE-1k more relaxed sounding with a sweet midrange.
8. The HE1K are more efficient.
Day 2. 8-12 hour mark.
1. I'm really liking the light ,palpable touch that these headphones lend to all music. Nice, fluffy and airy! A nice light touch to all genres but yet they still can kick it hard when called to do so.
2. Ears not hot at all after hours of listening.
3. A great alternative to the Audeze sound that easily performs at the same level.
4. Laid back and relaxed in a good way. So easy to listen to for hours on end
I can say this for sure. All three of my headphones, the LCD-3s, LCD-4s and the HE-1k,
are all great headphones and will easily co-exist with each other in my collection.
They represent the best from these companies not necessarily because their pricing, but simply by how they each go about conveying music to one's ears with their individual personalities. They are cream of the crop /end game /world class as far as I'm concerned and most importantly, they keep me smiling while listening for hours on end !

Very nice post!
Have you tried the HE6 or Code-X?

Have you tried the HE6 or Code-X?
I have tried the HE-6 on a Schiitt Ragnarok amp and my Burson Soloist ( volume and gain maxed but still not enough). I liked them a lot. I directly compared them to my HE-560 at the time. Resolution and clarity were standouts for the HE-6. The 560's high end sounded somewhat smeared in comparison. The bass on the HE-6 went a bit deeper. I felt the 560's had a bit more midbass going on vs the HE-6. Overall. I would not hesitate to buy the HE-6 if it wasn't so damned demanding! At 1/3 the price of the HE-1k, it's a steal. I still like the HE-1K better, but not $2k better.
Not familiar with Code-X but I did audition the HE-edition X at the same time as the HE-1k. I liked the HE-1K better as did all others at my mini meet a few months ago.

With proper amps, both of these are very nice, I though I would sell my HEK after getting the LCD4 200ohms but I re-discovered them on the MicroZotl 2S. The HEK can sound good on mostly any amp which is not the case with LCD4, but with proper amp the HEK really improves. I still prefer the LCD4 as I am addicted to its bass and detailed sound, but depending on the source, and neck pain I like to switch to the HEK.
