Perhaps Sennheiser means "Odiferous Foam" in German...?

When i got my HD650 4 month ago they had the "New" smell coming from the box. perhaps it is the smell you are talking about. but I didn't find it bad, i even like it, and I am sad that its gone away.

I have a good sniffer and never noticed a strange odor from my 650s. Got them in May.

My 650s came with a "new" smell that took a couple of months to disappear.

Got mine and they smelled but it wasn't bad, just a smelly smell quite like it. Smells a bit like a cloths shop when you walk in.

Your wearing them wrong.

Try putting them on over your ears instead of your nose. They smell less and sound better that way.
