Hi, first of all sorry for my english. not my main lang.
 
I don't like my Senns HD555. I Feel them muddy, congested, bass anemic, flat and not fun at all to hear ...(i'm trying to learn the sound language, but i'm a total newbie, so maybe im saying something dumb

) . I used to have a Yamaha GX-5 Hifi which i loved the sound.
 
I want to enjoy my music again.
 
Now i only listen music from my PC (win7 64 foobar Wasapi, X-fi Xtremegamer-->Hd555) i plan to buy a dedicated amp and a DAC o a DAC/AMP, but first i want to upgrade my headphones.
 
I listen all kind of music, (except jazz and metal and latin..) : classical, rock, indie, electronic,hip/hop, rap, r&b,[insert your genre here]  in no particular order
 
Currentrly i have good prices on HD650, DT990/600 and DT880/600.
 
I don't have access to test the phones .
 
Any suggestions? Hd650 sounds similar to HD555? What can i expect from beyers? Any help will be appreciated

you can't go wrong with either of the 600 ohm beyers.
 
pair them with a nice tube amp, and you will be enjoying music again. 

 
i, like you, found the sennheisers not a good match for my tastes.  i had the hd595, and sold them.
 
edit:
search the threads for differences between the dt990 and dt880.
in brief, the dt990 has lots of bass.  the dt880 is more neutral.
both will require mondo amplification.

I've read lots of comparisions between them , making me more confused if possible. First I leaned towards 
DT880 but some people said "not enough bass, flat, not fun" then DT990 and his "too much bass, recessed mids" and the HD650 with his "veil" . I'm starting to think life was much easier before internet.
 
I see u have both Beyers, can u say to me what i'm gonna find (in simple words) with this cans?

I question the Sennheiser veil myth.  They will be fine with a good amp, I only found HD600 veiled when underpowered, should be the same with 650.
You shouldn't find 650 congested, bass anemic or flat, lol - they are the complete opposite.

I hated my HD555 as well, but I can tell you that the HD600 is very nice and completely different. The 650 as well but the 650 needs the right amp to scale up and synergise with. I have an HD650 on order for the second time as they sound great re-cabled and balanced. Don't judge Sennheiser by the HD555/595, they just don't measure up. The HD600 is one of my all-time favorites, they are like an old friend now and have never let me down.
 
The HD555 almost ended my enthusiasm for this hobby before it even got started as I thought it was going to be a replacement/upgrade for my for my broken HD540, what a mistake. Just remember that no headphone is perfect for everyone, it depends on your listening preferences and the amp/source used. Everyone hears things differently.

There seems to be too much love for the HD650. I only am feared of finding that the HD650 are  aslightly improved HD555, but all the happy people with their HD650 caught my attention.
 
Any former HD555 now HD650 users out there?

Why not go for Beyer Dt 880 Pro 80 ohm? Or what is the difference between between the DT770 pro and a DT990 250 ohm? Do you really need a better amp than fiio e5 to get good sound out of the 250 ohms?

The HD600/650 are completely different than the HD555/595, not even comparable IMO.

I tested a HD555, HD600 and HD650 using exactly the same setup and only the HD600 didn't have the Sennheiser veil. I think it's very much synergy problems. the DT880 / 600 for the most balanced sound signature out of all of them but if you prefer more bass in exchange for mids, the DT990/600.

To elaborate on that a bit, the HD555 and HD595 have the same drivers, and they just aren't as good as the HD600 or the HD650 drivers, which are different from each other. I would agree that it is probably a synergy problem with the HD650, which does have a different driver and is more picky regarding amplification that the HD600.

I don't recommend the 80-ohm version @_@'
I definitely don't recommend E5 with a 250-ohm beyer either. XD

seriously, if you like to have a jack-of-all trades headphone out of the three, i will suggest the dt880 600 ohm 

 
since you seem to like a lot of varied genres, they would seem to be the best for your needs...

[rant] I really hated the HD650, but love the HD600. The HD600 is a superior headphone and is far more accurate sounding than the HD650.The HD600 is also brighter with clearer mids, and less bass. The HD650 was designed to be a smoother, bassier sounding headphone. To me the HD650 is far too smooth/muffled sounding and has too much bass (even more than the DT990 IMO). And I mainly amped it with my Roc in balanced mode and the "veil" was still there. I also tried with my WA3+ and the "veil" still remained. To me there is no "veil" it's just that these headphones have treble roll off and a lively/bright sounding amp can help to change this. [/rant]
 
Now the DT990/600Ohm does not suffer from recessed mids like the 250Ohm version does albeit they aren't as prominent as my HD600. The DT990 is a bass monster for sure, but the bass is very controlled and goes very deep. One thing is that the DT990 has more treble than the DT880.
 
The DT880/600Ohm has the prefect balance. It's like a brighter, faster version of the HD600 and even has a bigger soundstage. The DT880's bass is incredible and goes deep and has lots of texture. The bass is also integrated into the sound more than the DT990.

Hey maruzen ! u seem to have the three magnificients.
 
I've read your listening impressions at headphiles.org (I even tried The Cure - Friday i'm in love with my HD555 and...bleh, not horrible, but not cool), I had the impression u leaned towards HD650 more. 
 
I've almost have DT990 put out of the competition by now...almost (i like bass, but not at expenses of middles....)
