Actually, you can. Someone posted regarding this a few weeks ago.

The plug will come out, but due to the tight fit, the pins will stay in the connectors.

I don't remember the exact solution but it was something like this: Remove the grills and you will find a screw near where the connector is. Loosen this one a bit and the fit will be a bit less tight, which should enable you to remove the plug safely.

I do remember this as well. Someone did post this and the pins did remain in the connectors.

Wrap a towel around the plug and use (firmly but carefully) a pair of pliers.
I had to do it this way a couple of times, it'll be ok.

I had this same problem a while back, it was so hard to pull them out I thought I was going to pull the cans off the head strap. But they did come out without any problem.

I just ordered an extra cable from Senn to make a ballannced cable and when I removed it, one of the pins remained in the headphone. I will be emailing them about this. The pin came out easy with a needle nose.

It's rediculous how hard you have to pull to get them out.

What worked for me...but I wouldn't recommend it, was....darned; those HD600 stock cables are LONG....was; I stood up with the cans on my head and my foot on the cable.

No; I wouldn't recommend it.

It still works OK though. Thankfully.

But understanding how the spring set-up inside the housing is designed; I sure wouldn't be removing them very often unless necessary. It would also help if there was more material to get ahold of on the plug body instead of at the wire.
