I decided to upgrade the stock cable on my HD600's with the Cardas cable (before I move to a dedicated headphone amp). My embarrassing question is that I can't get the existing cable out of the headphones. I looked at the schematic and pulled down fairly hard, but nothing happened. Has anyone had difficulty in removing the stock cable and/or have any advice? The Cardas is just sitting there, mocking me. Thanks in advance!

It's a bit tight at first. Just pull harder, it'll come out eventually.

Make sure you grab the hard plastic part of the cord, right where it meets the headphones. Then pull/wiggle it out. It shouldn't be too difficult to pull out.

Also when you replace the cable, take note that the pins are sized differently and will fit only one way.

since i'm among those who are sure that intermittancy problems didn't start until unplugging the cable, the tightness of it pre-unplugging is significant. anyway, if someone with a never unplugged cable and a digital camera would be willing to show us what the connector looks like unmolested, maybe those of us with the naughty cable can see what needs to be done. squirt's article shows how to pop the driver. i just tried it, and the driver will come out with the cable still attached.

just one little picture. mr. driver loves you no matter what. there you go. there you go.

thanks,
