Thanks again for the help.

What surprised me is that country music improved the most with the phones. The soft jazz would have to be second. I'm hearing stuff from grover washington that i never picked up before.

They're great headphones. Every time I get a bout of upgrade-itis, I pretty much just have to listen to them. I love the presentation--to me it's nearly perfect. If you like acoustic guitars throw in some Michael Hedges or anything from the Tacoma School. You'll be impressed with how much it sounds like a single person sitting about 5 feet in front of you with guitar in hand.

I love Grado but when I had my 595's I enjoyed them immensly.Sometimes having headphones such as those enclosing my ears made me a little paranoid as they really isolate you more than Grados. They mated very well with my Gilmore Lite.I miss them and will buy another pair down the road.

Glad you like them ! What amp are you using with them ?

Yeah, the HD-595s sure are great. They were my first real cans since joining Head-Fi. I can see how some people don't appreciate the signature they have, but I sure love em. Plus they are insanely comfortable.

Wonderful cans, especially when paired with a good amp which opens up their soundstage and improves the bass response no end. They've made me want to try a pair of Grados though, and the 650s to see just how great the differences are between the two lines.

Did you? I'm also thinking of doing the same thing.

Huge... 650s are on another level, both sound and price-wise (MUST have a powerful amp!). As for Grado, it's true what people say about them being great rock cans and doing a great job of guitars. I really like the house sound of both Sennheiser and Grado...

Excellent buy!

Now I we must warn you : they are kinda flimsy, due to the massive use of light plastic in the construction. So make a nice use of the included senn clamp to store them. I almost broke mine when I left it on a table and I accidently pushed them 2 inches from the side of my desk...

Now get yourself a great amp, an even better source and you're almost done (maybe for the next 2 weeks)

I've tried K701 at local audio store for about 30 minutes, and I still think my HD-595 is better for my taste

. Although later I decided to give it to my good friend as a gift and keep my Goldring DR150 ( tad inferior to HD595 IMHO ). I still miss my 595 VERY much....

Oh...BTW, I can live without my HD595 only because my friends bought me a pair of B&W 602 S3 (to celebrate my wedding & house moving), and thus I have to spend more time on my speakers.

They are flimsy but durable. I've had mine for 18 months and even after dropping them (accidentally and on purpose) they're still going strong despite a wide crack in the left bit just above the driver housing

. I'll take a pic if anyone's interested.
