Hello. Another question.

Whats the difference between HD595 and HD555? I read that in the HD555 there i a Sourround Reflector. But in the HD595 not? Has the HD595 a larger soundstage than the HD595?

Thanks.

andy

The HD595 has the exact same kind of sonic signature (neutral, with deep bass, a great midrange, and slightly on the bright side, good for rock and techno lovers but definitely ok with classical music and jazz).

What makes them different is the HD595's highs sound a lot less tinny, the sound is a bit fuller, bass is more articulate, and the mids are a bit more detailed.

The highs are the single biggest improvement; the 555s are a bit more distorted and definitely have characteristics of cheaper phones. 595s dont have much of this at all.

Either phone is worth buying one hundred percent, but I guarantee you'll benefit if you buy the 595 over the 555. If you want a more neutral sound without as much of an emphasis on highs the HD580, 600, or 650 is your phone. The 580-600-650 really needs an amp, period, and a great source, period, and a great set of recordings, period. The 515-555-595 don't, however, and sound better on lesser equipment compared to the HD580+ series.

Cheers,

thanks geek, any other opinions, i'm in the same dilemma as bogo2. The HD555 is £65 where as the HD595 is £125 in my case so a substancial price difference.

thanks in advance

Do a search - lots of people have commented on this already. What i've read is consistent with what geek said - get the 595 if you can afford it, but the 555 is very good for the price, and not too different.

Geek, that was a great analysis. Would you say that the 595's share the same sound qualities with the 600...but with a more forward, brighter sound? So instead of the great sound with a back row seat, the 595's would give you a great sound with a front row seat? Thanks.

I have been playing jazz for the past 6 years, I have to say the 595 is absolutly fantastic for jazz, very accurate reproduction of the feel and sound, from big band to small combos. I am especially amazed with how good Arturo Sandoval and Gordon Goodwin sounds, very nice banlance overall between the instrumentations with the finest details.

Xythe i order yesturday afternoon from hifibitz for 65GBP however them have gone up in price since then according to the site
They are now 75GBP incl P&P, oddly enough the same thing happened with the 595s early in the week, on monday they were 95GBP, now there 125GBP although i e-mailed and assured me it had nothing to do with the fire in Ireland, quite a coinscidence though!

anyway the url for the 555s is http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/subcategor...=3&pagesize=10

Hope that helps
