I've been searching around the forum for a while and need a solution to a problem I have. I have the Sennheiser HD590 and really love the sound and comfort of them, however I need something with less sound leakage, since I will be dorming with a roommate and do not want to disturb him late at night. I'm guessing I will have to go with a closed set. I have the HD590's plugged into my comptuer through Logitech Z-560 speakers and Philips Acoustic Edge soundcard. I use it mainly to listen to various types of music (i.e. classical, hip-hop, trance, alternative) and also for FPS gaming (though not as frequently as listening to music).

So, I was wondering if any closed headphones are comparible to the HD590's in terms of sound and comfort when connected to a computer. I did recently try the Sennheiser HD280 Pro but was very disappointed by the sound and comfort and returned it. Therefore, I'm looking for closed headphones that don't sound and feel like the HD280's either. Also, I want to keep the price at a reasonable range, less than $150 if possible. So far it seems like the Beyerdynamic DT250-80 are good, but I don't know if they would sound similar to the HD280 Pro's...hopefully not.

Any information/recommendations on this topic is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I don't think the DT250-80 sounds anything like the HD590, but for your taste in music the Beyer DT770pro would be a good choice IMO.

The only issue is that the 770pro requires amplification to really shine, but the headphone jack on your Z-560 should give it a little boost, I've actually tried the 770pro from a z-560 headphone out and it didn't sound too bad. Not as good as with an amp, but good enough
