HD590 good for deep bass?

It is DEEP. However , you have to consider your source and your amp in order to get tighter bass. However, even with a portable cd player and a small amp the HD 590s sound terrific with very good sound overall.

I always sort of felt that my 590s were like the super-deluxe big brother of my Sony V6, in terms of general sound signature. It's not so much a matter of recessed mids, it's more heightened treble and midbass. I guess for all practical purposes, it amounts to the same thing....

I like my V6, despite my occasional thoughts about tweaking or EQing it, and I like the 590. My only complaint about the 590 is that it's SO open that some of the acoustical energy doesn't make it to my ears because it's dissipating outward. Of course that's what gives it such a wide, clear soundstage, but it also takes a little immediacy or "bite" out of things. My A900, being a closed design, has a somewhat narrower soundstage but delivers more of the sound to my ears, IMO.
