hey guys,

Finally i am getting HD600 but i am selling HD555.

little worried because then i wont be having any efficient Full size cans like HD555.


if i drive HD600 with ibasso D2 Boa..will they still sound better than HD555???




Boa has a high gain switch also btw for impedance matching.

let me know..

obviously with a Desktop Amp the HD600 is another league but since i ll be going on a long vacation in december..and mite have to carry a desktop amp then if they dont sound even as good as HD555

i know most of u with HD600 or HD650 keep HD555 as a backup headphone..but i dont have the luxury as i already spent a lot of Xperia X1 phone..hence the only source of money is selling my beloved HD555.

Even with portable amp , my HD650 still sound better than my 50 ohms HD595 but not by much. So I guess that the HD600 will sound better than the HD555 with portable amp

Your HD555 must be really sad considered you're going to dump them now

I think even unamped the HD650 sounds much better than I ever remembered the HD555 to sound. (I sold those to fund SR325) That's straight out of an ipod.
after getting an HD650 the HD555 disapeared in some dark corner behind a curtain and never saw the light again

I agree that underamped HD6XX sounds better than HD555, but those cans are capable of so much more - I'm personally holding off on them until I get some serious amping (namely Zana Deux)

I think that the 600s sound MUCH better than my 595s out of only my computer output, so with a little amping that gap is only going to get larger.

If you look at frequency graph of HD595 compared to HD600 at Headroom there is not much difference so how can HD600 sound so much better? Does the graph lie?

Graph doesn't tell everything about the sound anyway.

Anyway IMO,

HD600+good amp+good cable >>> HD595 > underpowered HD600.

graph doesn't tell speed, detail, soundstage, PRaT, comfort, etc etc.

I've played around with driving my HD650's with my D3, and it does do a pretty good job, better than expected to be honest.

There is a little something missing, but then again my amp for comparison is a DV 332; when I compare against the H/A on my Zero (with upgraded opamps) its a pretty even match, if anything I prefer the clean IBasso sound.
