Heya,

So here's my question. If I were to combine the best attributes of both my Senn and Beyer, what would I get? Basically, if I were to sell both cans, what would adequately fill the void, preferably not over $300? I'll be using the Total BitHead amp. No preference between closed or open.
The reason is that I'm taking headphones to college, and it'll be an ANC7 and one other pair...

Thanks!

what did you like about each headphone? i'm pretty sure you like the bass in the dt770 though =D

i'm guessing an hd555 with lots of bass.

maybe upgrading the dt770 to a pair of dt990 instead? or hd650? or darth the beyers?

I like the classical and choral performance of the HD555, and the bass of the DT770 (but no need to go AS obnoxious

). I'd also like it to perform very well with guitar, and be warm (maybe even relaxed) but not veiled.

I'm being picky, but whatever is closest (for <$300)!

Some that have somewhat piqued my interest

I'd recommend the dt880s. The dt880's treble response is similar to the dt770's, but more natural. Also bass plays as loudly as the dt770's, but with less weight and impact, but more detailed than the HD555's bass has. The dt880 is quite a steps above both cans=]

*edit* I forgot to mention that the dt880s play bass less consistently than the dt770s, which seem to play bass all the time because of its tipped up response. Just something to consider when looking at the dt880s=]

HD555 + Beyer DT770 = A toned down version of the HD650s.

I'd say HD650s is you feel like stepping up amp wise. Would grab something better than the Bithead, and I'm sure your other headphones would appreciate it as well.
