Hi, I currently own a newer model of the HD555 and I've realized that it is 50 Ohms unlike the older models.

Is there anything I can do (like an adaptor?) that can raise the impedance to the old specification of 120 or close? Thanks

EDIT: it's 120, not 150 my mistake

There are adapters for that but they won't help the performance at all. Also why did you want it to be 150Ohms?

Your source is not "powerful", the impedance is too high. Its not letting your headphone drive well, not letting the power transfer efficiently.
22 Ohms, for any decent performance needs a headphone of around 200 Ohms.
I'll suggest if possible, use a better source.

I think my source is too powerful at 22 Ohms output and the HD555 sounds strange.
Sorry my bad, 120 is what they were rated at.

What are you plugging the headphone into?
A output impedance of 22-Ohm sounds like something made for 220-Ohm headphones.

I will try to get a better source, thanks.
