I've been reading around here for a bit and finally decided to register before making the plunge into some new cans.

I've had the HD495s for the past 3 years and have been nothing but happy with them. I would like to buy some new cans and get a little more exposed to the high end audiophile world.

The HD595s have been the headphones that have caught my attention more then anything else.

What can I expect from going to the 595s from the 495s? Are there any other brands out there that I should look at besides the Senns?

I listen mostly to trance and my source will be the Super mini moy from shellbrookaudio.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

From what it sounds like, you've already made up your mind to go with the HD595s, so why bother? JUST BUY THE DAMN THINGS ALREADY!

I have 495s as well, and I'm about to upgrade.

I've not heard the 595s, but if you like the 495s, then trust me, you'll love the 580/600/650s. I've used my brother's 580 for a fair bit, and it's GREAT! Much better than the 495, and that was UNAMPED!

I'm about to order the 650s, and am working on upgrading my sound card and building an amp. I should be one happy (and broke) camper by the end of this.

The 595s arrived today and I have been nothing but impressed with them.

Granted they are not burned-in yet so we'll see what happens then. The sound is much more robust and warmer over the 495s. It definitely sounds fuller and a tad more 'rounder'.

They feel much better then the 495s. The 495s began to hurt after a couple of hours and these just keep on keeping on with the good feelings.

I'm digging it.

Oh man do the 495s start to hurt after a while.

Glad you are pleased with your purchase. I'll give my initial impressions on the 650 when I get it, I should be ordering it tomorrow.

Congratulations to both of you, guys! YOu've made some good choices. I pitty your cash flow, but you'll get so much joy out of these puppies in years to come. Isn't that what it's all about? Don't become equipment junkies though. Get the best you can afford and enjoy the music.

Just a little over 30 hours of pure burn in- no listening during those hours.

Already the bass has improved. They continue to increase in "warmness" over the 495s. The detail over the 495s is quite impressive.
