I picked up a pair of these locally at an estate sale for $25! What a deal. I purchased new pads on ebay for $15 and I threw some velour pads I had lying around over the new foam and boom. They sound fantastic. I love me some vintage headphones. These (HD424x 2000ohm) sound better than my HD414 600ohms and better than my HD400 600ohms as well. Not quiet as good as either my HD540 or HD250s but those are absolute gems. If you can find these for a decent price, they will outperform a majority of modern "mainstream" headphone brands.

I've got a pair and I was able to mount pleather pads where the foams mount. Sounds great and they are quite light weight.

I also have a pair of with a 600 ohm driver that works and a 2000 ohm driver that is blown. Looking for a second driver.
