I really like how HD25 sound like, but I appreciate their tank-alike build quality as well. These were made to last and take beating with no complaints. One of our chaps had to rewire his very old HD25 two times, but other than that he's been perfectly happy.

Completely agree. The HD25s are surprisingly robust considering how they look. None of my DJ friends have ever had any issues with the original HD25s (and some of them absolutely abuse them - throw them around, strangle them with wires when packing away, toss them in their backpack without a case). It goes without saying I haven't had any issues with the aluminums either (which I consider more robust and sturdy).

Ditto the guy at our office. It's not that he doesn't take care of audio stuff he owns as he does. But he knows well that he can do anything with his Senns and they'll survive it

Just received my customcans pads. I must say they are pretty comfortable, better than stock I think. Not so much changes in the sound though.

I think it is quite refreshing to be able to toss around and use a pair of headphones that way, especially as most other audio equipment has to be handled so delicately!

I feel I have created the ultimate HD25. Oyaide cable, 600 Ohm drivers and aluminium cups from the Amperior model. I know Sennheiser never made an HD25 like this but they sure should have.

I stupidly sold my HD25 a few years ago during a cleanup, probably to buy some other headphones or something.
After a little while I missed their robustness and sound signature. Was going to buy another pair but didn't want to pay $250AUD for a pair.
A HD25-II (old model Made in Ireland) came up on Facebook Marketplace a few days ago, new without box (never used) for $100AUD. I jumped on it, and picked them up yesterday. So glad I did, I've missed this sound. I've been re-listening to heaps of music just to hear that punchy sound again
Now just to replace the cable with something else, the 3m cable sucks. I previously had the Oydaide, might grab one if I can find one at a decent price.

They seem like excellent cables but I don’t really want a braided cable for a workhorse headphone like this. I’ll be using them a bit for work purposes too (ENG camera operator) so a ‘normal’ type of cable is better for my use.

I really keep trying to love my HD 25 but i feel them too inconfortable for long periods. I'm a DJ and i listen to music 6/7 hours a day. After that amount of time with the hd 25 my ear hurts and also i feel auditive fatigue.

I bought the Pioneer HDJ X10 and i feel them waaay better in all round aspects, they are more confortable, they sound wider with a lot of soundstage, the feel robust and the cups cover all my ear without touching it, so i can have them for looong periods without pain. I love the bass of the HD 25 but i think that with 50/60 hours of burn in the bass of the pioneers will be even better.

My opinion with the HD 25, i use then for7 month. Really try to get use to them but i couldn't.

Agreed, braided cable does not seem to make sense with the HD25.

I've found with alot of on-ear headphones the physical experience can vary quite a bit person to person (i.e. a person could find a pair comfortable on the ear but others find it unbearably comfortable).

Could definitely understand where you're coming from with the fatiguing sound. The bass is quite punchy and upfront. I do enjoy the sound signature (both for listening and DJing) but there are certainly times when I wouldn't want to pop these on for any easy-going listening.
