I just need something shorter than stock (about 50cm)... not some ultra-fancy-shmancy Techflexed BS, but something which is ideally as practical and robust as the original with a similar right-angled plug. I suppose I could make it, I could even ask other people to make it, but I'd rather just buy one if someone's doing it already.

Is there anyone offering such a cable? Thanks.

I'd go with [AK]Zip, guy is amazingly willing to do extremely custom orders.

None of the "custom re-cablers" will make a cable for you that fits thru the headband as do the originals. To use one of the customs you will have to invert the "elements" (drivers and capsule), or wind one end round and round the box of the one element. If you are feeling the SQ, in their present state, is not optimum for your tastes and you are willing to spend a few bucks more - there is the Senn. cable # 515640 mostly available at Thomann (http://www.thomann.de/gb/sennheiser_...satzkabel.htm).
SennheiserUSA will neither stock nor order it for you..........but a Thomann minimum order is at least $50, and there will be a shipping cost of $30. Your simplest and best solution (if you don't want that HD25-13 cable from Thomann [which you'd have to get shortened as it is same length as your present cable but will sound somewhat better]) is to send your phones to a re-cabler and have him shorten your stock cable and put on a switchcraft or neutrik plug. That will usually cost you something like $35.
