Sorry, weird title.

Long story short, for my next setup, I've really been wanting to try the following combination...
  • Sennheiser HD 600
  • JDS Labs O2 + ODAC
  • HD 650 Cable
With the O2 + ODAC combo, I specifically wanted to try the one on this URL:

I also wanted to customize it to have a 1/4 inch jack at the front, and to have RCA output on the back. From my research, it seems that there's different types of O2 + ODAC combos out there, but after researching, I personally feel like this two-in-one (DAC/Amp) might hopefully be my best bet when it comes to having a great DAC/Amp.

The reason I wanted to go with this over a Magni/Modi, was that I've read on a few sources, that the Modi 2 is actually not that accurate of a DAC. With that in mind, I've also heard that the O2 was probably the best I could get in terms of raw transparency, and that's the one I decided I wanted to get for the HD 600s.

As for the headphones themselves, I've heard that they have a "veiled" sound that would tend to vanish if I were to use an HD 650 cable (or even a Cardas cable).

My current audio setup at the moment, is an HD 599 and FiiO E10K combo. I'll admit that I do feel like the sound from that combination is... comfy, to describe it. I like the neutral sound from it, and whenever I go to non-neutral headphones, I always feel like it tends to sound much worse. Same thing happens if I were to even think about touching the equalizer for them.

As I love the overall neutral sound, it seems the next logical step would be to get a pair of HD 600s, with a JDS Labs O2 + ODAC combo, and an HD 650 cable. I've been debating for months whether or not it's worth the upgrade, though. Whenever I look up reviews and whatnot, I hear people say all the time that the HD 598s (which I heard are the same as the 599s, just altered) sound really similar to the HD 600s, and that the FiiO E10K would work in place of a Schiit stack. However, I also see the polar opposite, where I read that the differences are HUGE.

I guess my question is... if I favor a neutral sound, and am wanting more clarity and whatnot, would it be worth the investment over what I currently have right now?
