What's the difference in performance between the two headphones?

HD600 $200
HD650 $250-$300
HD800 $1400

Different market segment = no competition with HD600/650 = no price drop on HD600/650

Pretty much like the the GS1000 to the rest of the Grado line-up.

however other $1000+ headphones will drop in price as everyone sells to buy the HD800's

Don't look for much if any change. The new phones are targeted at a different market than the 650s. Senn would have to release a specific upgrade to the 650 (or at least a new phone within $300 msrp) for the prices to fluctuate at all. The 650/600 isn't obsolete; it has simply been out done on a different plane.

I meant what's the difference between the HD600 and the HD650? The reports I get are inconsistent.

And is the HD600 discontinued? A lot fewer retailers carry it than the HD650.

Are the 650s down to 250-300? i thought they were $325-350 at least. The lowest price in amazon market place is 339. and 349. and the rest are up from there. TTVJ says 499 and call for price and HR says 449 and call. I've never seen them new below $300. if so they have already come down. For that price they are a steal.

Performance difference:

HD650 is widely accepted to be slightly darker, bassier, than the HD600. Anything other than that is personal bias or preference.

As to if HD600 is discontinued, they are not. HD580 is the only phone in the HD580/600/650 that is presently discontinued, but I would imagine that HD600's time is coming soon.
