my fav so far out of my AT a900s or grado 325s. Overall, better seperation, wider and deeper soundstage, less fatigue over long listening sessions, warmer sound, especially with guitar and bass plucks (ATs and 325s seem clinical in comparison). Not as laid back as I was expecting them to be considering the grado vs senn debate, but I guess these are known to be less lad back than most senns. I'm running them out of the headphone jack on the laptop right now, so with decent power and a cleaner source they should be marvelous. I'll try em with the echo indigo tomorrow. I think alot of the difference in sound carachteristics with the a900s is simply open vs closed.

Interesting. I've been looking for something just a little more laid back to compliment my Grados. I'll have to go out and give these a listen soon. how is the bass compared to your Grado 325 (bowls or flats)? I read reports of week or thin bass, but don't know if that's relative to the HD600/650 or if it's week in general. Also, what kind of music are you listening to through them?

hmmm,

I've had a HD595 once.


Maybe I was used to the sound of K501,
I found the vocal is muddy and rough,a bit too thick...


Now im enjoying my AD1000.

Hmmm,

Did you know "burn in", at the time ?


The "muddy" and the "thick" just disappear with burn in; I don't hear any "rough".

Very interesting, Rob. I thought mids were the area that separated the two, and that bass coming from a900/1000 was more pronounced.

Of course,

my HD595 has burn-ined 2 months.


I cannot stand with his sound so finally sold it.

Maybe the sennheiser dosent fit my favor....

(In addition,My k501 has run for 6 months,this HD595 is the 120 ohm version)

just got my 595

first impressions, design and looks is an A, build quality B
no burn in, it already sounds really good, very detailed, wonderful vocals. I guess I'm already familiar with the sound, having owned 555 previously. I'm A/Bing vs 580 and 595 blows it away in vocals. 580 seem very flat in comparison while 595 conveys alota emotion.

I thought 555 was really comfy, but 595 takes it to another level. It feels alot lighter and there's barely any clamp at all, 555 had a bit more... not nearly as much as 580 tho.

even tho i prefer grado for rock, 595 handles it very competently. While 580 has punchier bass, 595 has more extension, guitar plucks and drums are much sharper and detailed. I'm surprised at how upfront and energetic it. Not laidback or dull as some other people have described. They must have been playing some boring music
