Just purchased these phones, and iv been reading about people uprgrading cables and buying amps, I plan to use these phones mainly for my computer, and for games, would you guys recommend me still getting a amp, or even upgrading my cable? Iv been looking for sites that sell cables, anyone have a recommendation for the best site for price on cables and amps.

Thanks In Advance!

The 590 will kill your ears literally if you plug it into your comp.
Use less revealing headphones for your PC.

I used a 590 while going through a portal in UT. Boy did my ears bleed after that.

I now use cheap bass heavy phones that position well.

If you are going to use an amp. Get a WARM amp. Your ears will thank you.

Dont bother upgrading cables. Contrary to popular belief, it doesnt do much.

It pisses me off that ppl try to justify their purchases by stringing along "newbies"

but hey what ever pulls your chain.

One that doesnt emphasise the treble/high frequencies.

any recommendations for which amp to pick, for under 200, and it will be exclusivly pluged into my soundstorm sound card, so I would preffer not to get a battery driven amp.

You can try to get a cheap META42 configuration from Tigger (headsave). It'd work well. =)

Headphone upgrade cables can and will improve the sound. It'd not be to the extend of changing the sound in this case but the improvement can be had.
IMO, don't spend on aftermarket cables unless you diy it. Commercial alternatives are too expensive.

Having heared ZERO headphone amps in my life, what brands and models of amps are considered warm?

I don't understand how you can say that.

In your "sig" alone you mention you have the Equinox cable. That looks like a cable upgrade to me. Not to mention all the ones in your profile for your other equipment.

Cables do make a difference. I know, I have two of them that have their own sound which is alot better than the stock cable, a Cardas and another one which I can not say at this time. I have the HD600s and both of these cables make the HD600s sound much better in terms of tonal accuracy, detail, spaciousness, and depth. They also offer better control of the bass and treble, and mids that will make you drool. And all I can say about the "mystery" cable is that it is much better than even the Cardas which is the best on the market right now!

The cable I have from Equinox is Australian, not the maker of the headphone cables. It costs like $25 bux

so why not.

I do agree when you say stock you mean those cheap interconnects that come free. But any cables from $25 onwards have little to no difference.

What you hear is all in your mind. I know this because I had the same thing happen to me. But with quick switches between cables < a fraction of a second. It sounded identical and I was pissed.

Mind you I use some high res equipment.

I dunno until someone proves me wrong

"cables from $25 onwards have little to no difference."
-Since I bought the MagWire Nakeds which are 25 bucks a pair, and heard the difference, I'll agree with you there. Especially after the $1200 worth of cables the Nakeds replaced.

"What you hear is all in your mind."
-Which is the same exact thing both my brothers heard and two of my friends heard. Hmm..... That's odd, if it's all in MY head.

Sorry about replying this way, but I really don't feel like explaining why and how cables make a difference, and that it's not just in your head. I'm sure others will agree with me.

It's all in your head. Your friends heard the "difference" because they expected it.

You can believe what you want to believe.

"It's all in your head. Your friends heard the "difference" because they expected it."
- You know that' s a bunch of B.S. If you really think that way, then what the heck are you doing in the forums. This whole place is about tweaks and mods!

"You can believe what you want to believe."
- It's not just believing, it's a known fact all cables sound different, just like all speakers sound different. So I guess everyone on this site is wrong about upgraded cables?!

"What high res eq do you have?"
- Apparently, mine's much better than yours, since I can hear differences in cables and you can not. If you can't hear the difference in cables on your "high res" system, that means that the cables are better quality than the eqipment their hooked up to. In other words, your "high res" equipment is the limiting factor, not the cables!!
