HD 555 into Bithead amp into SB Audigy2

I may be misconstruing your question, but as I understand it the BitHead runs on USB power (from your PC) only when it is acting as the plug & play sound card for the PC, in which case I assume your SoundBlaster card would be bypassed and the BitHead would be doing the digital-to-analog conversion instead of the Audigy.

If you want to use the Audigy's features, I assume you would have to run the BitHead on its internal batteries and connect it to your Audigy with a mini cable. Then the BitHead is acting only as an analog headphone amp.

Well, you'd probably have more luck in the amp forum. This being the DIY forum, ask how to rewire your Bithead* or build some sort of external PSU** would get a faster response -- and if that's what you're looking to do, it's not obvious in your original post.

Also, give people more than an hour before bumping. Even assuming everybody on Head-Fi is in the same time zone as you (they're not), there's a lot of different ways for people to spend their time on a Friday night. Or any other time, for that matter.

*probably not the best solution
**not necessary if I remember how the Bithead works, see leftbldg's post

Well, I'm sorry you haven't had a good answer then. From the DIY perspective, there's really not much you can do -- there's no DC input jack, and adding one would definitely void your amp's warrenty.

I think the best option for you would be rechargeable batteries. You'd still have the battery life concern you mention in other threads, but you wouldn't be buying new batteries each time. (And unless you're listening to the amp for 30+ hours a stretch, you won't really be interfering with your listening time too much.) Do a search through the Interconnects/Speakers/Etc. forum and this forum for more info on those.

Edit: Forgot to mention that if you're really stuck on a question about a Headroom product, you should drop them an email or a phone call. They a good company to deal with.

Have patience, Grasshopper. Audio bliss will come to you.

What are your thoughts on rechargeables as a possible solution?
