Hi all,
I'm a long time lurker and always found what I needed without making new threads. But today I really need some advices. A friend is offering me a Entech Number Cruncher 205.5 + Woo Audio 3 combo.

I've tried it with my HD595 and my friend's SR325i and I really liked the sound of these two cans with it. Unfortunatly (danm you head-fi!

), I began searching threads about this tube amp. I found that this amp is not good for amping low impedance headphone, which is what I tried.

I'm checking to buy DT880 (250 or 600 ohms), HD600 and SR325is or RS-2, so I would maybe prefer an amp that could drive the three. I know that the two first are not a problem, but would another amp take the SR325i (or RS-2) to another level?

I would also like to be able to use it as a preamp for a new speakers rig I'm planning on buying. I've heard that the LD MKIV would be better as a preamp, because it use the power tube too. It is cheap also compared to the WA3.

Finally, my friend told me to make him an offer. What would be a fair offer for this combo if I decide to buy it?

Thanks in advance,

Danny

The Woo 3 uses half of the tube for the preamp section. It really doesn't offer much as a preamp.

I use my Woo Audio 3 for its preamp function and it sounds very good to me. I use a Rotel amp driving B&W speakers with great results. I've used DT-880(250),HD-650 & 325i. Despite some reports that low impedance doesn't pair well, I have no complaints.

Ok, I've decided to buy it. I think it will be a good start. Any price suggestion? I know that the amp cost 470 new and the DAC is often found for 100 and below. Would 350$ be a fair offer?

I really like mine. Easy to find tubes for.
