What's up, I am new to this site and a novice when it comes to this type of thing. I have searchbar'd the forums extensively and I am still not confident on what I should get.

I work out at sea on large vessels and I am constancy traveling. So I need something that will drown the surrounding noises like boats and airplanes. I do like the "ear muff" style headphones they are more comfortable. I only use the headphones for an Ipod and Laptop. So I do want to get an amp(which I had no idea headphones needed until reading a lot of these threads). I was about to purchase the Bose QC3's until reading much of the threads on this site, I have balked at the idea and would like to ask for your opinion. I would greatly appreciate what you all have say and hear your suggestions. BTW... Bosemobile was hilarious!

Thanks Again!

A little more info please.........
What's your budget?
What is your musical preference, e.g. rock, jazz, classical.
Do you need noise canelling phones?
Do you perfer on-ear or around ear phones?
Full size or more compact?
What are you thinking about in the way of an amp, portable or desk top?

For my budget, I was about to purchase the QC3's. So I am willing to pay around $300-$350.

My Music consist mainly of rock, a little hip hop. But I do not need to be blown away by the bass.

I am not sure if I need noise canceling headphones. But I do not want to have to hear boat/airplane/people/crying babies with my music.

I prefer around the ear, "in the ear" is a pain when I fall asleep and its jamming my inner ear.

Full size isn't a big deal, the Bose headphones look like a perfect size.

Thanks for the response!

If I'm reading you right, your surrounding environment is quite noisy which seriously limits your selection of phones. I'm thinking maybe the Denon d2000 would work. Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention there's a pair of QC2's on the FS forum for $175.
