But I don't feel right not paying for it. Its fine downloading something ILLEGALLY and now paying for it, but downloading it legally and getting it free seems wrong.

I also find the above quote super interesting.

I'm tempted to throw some harsh criticism at some of the production elements and songwriting, but want to give it all a chance to gel. I thought it was interesting that www.pitchforkmedia.com actually made it a point to complain about the 160kbps bitrate. They never make much of a deal over audiophilia, for example not really complaining when an album they review is compressed to hell and back.

heard "nude" on the radio today and first impressions where that it sounded maybe too familiar.. and possibly just too predictable and "same old", especially the lyrics.

i guess i'll need to hear more but first impressions are that it's nothing ground-breaking, not much of an advancement since the recent albums.

oh and i wont bother downloading it, i absolutely hate MP3's, no matter what bit-rate etc they are.. if it were FLAC then fair enough but i think i'll wait for the CD.

3-rd run through it...

Simplified well-polished sound, less pretencious, contained, MATURE, easy to listen...just as expected IMO. No Kid A here, no The Bends

That's probably because "Nude" has been kicking around for over 10 years now. Personally, I'm happy they were finally able to record that one. I wish they finished "Big Boots" as well. I loved that track back in the day. It was similar to "Climbing Up the Walls" with a hypnotizing melody.

I really like In Rainbows thus far. 15 Step is a great kickstart and the rest of the album flows well. I think "Videotape" should've been left just Thom and piano like "How I Made My Millions" though. But it's still a fantastic track.

So many tasteful ideas... I think my favorite new track may be "Faust Arp." That one hits a lot of buttons for me, and it's nice and short.

The transition from early live version to album version of "Videotape" is really interesting. I kept waiting for the beat and guitars to come in, since it's one of those rhythms that intentionally throws you off until all of the elements are present, but there's just a lonely snare in their place.

Also witness the transition from "Reckoner," live to album. Not the same song!

Someone in the thread, mentioned that Radiohead has found their sound. That rings true to me. "In Rainbows" sounds like Radiohead, album, nothing more, nothing less.

So far, I really like "15th Step", "All I Need", "Reckoner", and "Jigsaw Falling Tnto Place".

In spots, Yorke's vocals remind me of Richard Ashcroft.
