Seen a guy wearing some on the bus (he looked a tool) and just wondered how a company who makes headphones manage to stay afloat when they are so poor at it??

Well, I think for a cheap, easy to find "upgrade" to typical ibuds, they're not that bad. (I have the "smokin buds") Some people just dont have the patience, or want to order alternatives online and would rather walk into Best Buy, spend $30 bucks, and have a new set of earphones. Most would probably say Nu-Force is better for just a couple bucks more, but not so easy to buy in stores.

Just my .02 USD.

their over the ear phones (ie Hesh) and really anything other than their iem's are pretty much crap & sound mediocre at best.

On the other hand, while they're all ugly as s**t, I think their iem's are really good for the price. I bought a pair of Titan's heavily discounted at a closing Circuit City, and I think they sound excellent for the price I paid for them. Maybe a tad muddy, but it's hard to beat the bass response for the price. Unfortunately, there's some durability issues w/ many of their models, but they do have a lifetime warranty, so I guess it depends on whether you mind sending a pair in for repair every now and then. I also had a pair of Full Metal Jackets that sounded really good for the price IMHO. I'm sure many will disagree.

Because tools buy lots and lots of them. They are still in business for the same reason as redbull, they sell a lifestyle. Anyone who has any sense of what good audio sounds like will rip off their ears before they listen to skullcandy products... IMO.

I personally think redbull is the best tasting energy drink out of them all.

(if you're don't mean redbull the energy drink, then ignore me. lol)

Actually this FYE near my old school had them at $10 quite often/. I have never tried them so I can't comment on the sound or quality.

If you want the quality of $10 headphones, go for it. If they're good enough for some folks, that's fine. If that's your budget, get them or, even better, save up your money (seemingly a rare phenomenon these days) and actually get something you'll enjoy for a long time. Everyone should enjoy what they enjoy, and not be criticized for it, but this is an audio forum, and I've heard these before and they're complete crap, imo.

I got a rediculous markdown on a pair of Skullcandy Ti Tokidoki ($90 msrp) last December for my sister. Looks cool and fashionable enough I guess for a teen, but even my Sennheiser EH-150 smoked it in SQ, and I can't even listen to those anymore since I've gotten my TF10s. They stay afloat because their products are still better than ibuds (the free Ink'd Buds I got were at least), and they're considered quite fashionable I suppose. When I went snowboarding this past winter, there were SO MANY people wearing skullcandies out on the slopes ^^;;

definitely: fashion > SQ

My experience:
Skullcandy TI - garbage
Skullcandy GI - garbage
Skullcandy FMJ - garbage
Skullcandy Lowriders - garbage

Skullcandy Ink'd - okay for $10
Skullcandy TiTans - okay for $20 but very overrated (see headroom)

If they ever made any half decent headphone, I am sure we will be the last people to know. Better ask this question in some teenager's trend and fashion forum to get some real answer

hahaha, yeah, I honestly do like the taste, but I don't need it to snowboard better. And there are a lot of people who seem to think they do which makes me laugh.
