I use these right now for FPS gaming (80% use) and mobile music enjoyment. I'm pretty happy with these but I feel like I am missing a lot of the lower end. I know it's not the same, but earlier this year I purchased a set of very nice Focal speakers for my car and was blow away by how much I loved high end audio. So right now I'm just browsing and looking for a worthwhile upgrade to these cans, something I can stick with for the next 5+ years (had these current ones for at least 6 years).
 
I'd like to keep the entire system to <$500, which includes any amplification or signal conversion as required. I would like to get a very noticeable difference for my money, not just a minor upgrade. My list right now includes:
 
ATH-R70x
K712
SRH1840
HD600/650
V-Moda M-100
Beyer T90
 
Paired with FiiO E10K or if budget allowed, Schiit amp & modi 2.

So we can assume you already own the FiiO E10K?
If you do own the E10K, we can assume you have been FPS gaming in stereo audio, no headphone surround sound?

Keep using the ATH-AD700 for FPS gaming and use the T90 for everything else.
