Has anyone upgraded from a pair of DT531's?

I really do like my DT531's, but I can't help thinking that my Corda amp is better than my cans and should be powering something a little more "high end" lol (or, I should just be honest and say, I've got upgraditis again!

).

Anyway, I like the look of the DT880's, but I like listening to electronica/hip hop/reggae/etc (bass heavy music I suppose) and I don't know whether they will be good at this sort of music?

I just used the konfigurator thing on the beyer.de website and the price comes to £212 (including lifetime warranty and some personalisation), however I'm concerned that I could get a pair of Senn HD650's for £189 on eBay (new). I have a feeling the Senn's are more for classical and more detailed listening than what I want, but it's sobering thinking of the financial aspect.

So, any ideas on what I should look for as an upgrade?

My other hardware is listed in my sig and profile fyi.

DT770's sound great for bass heavy music. They keep everything else pretty clean considering the heavy bass too. You should be able to score a pair of those for around 100 pounds

As much as I hated to sell my DT531's, I ended doing just that when I got my HF-1's. I'd had the Beyers for a while and was seduced by the Grado's. Unfortunately I couldn't keep both. I don't know if I'd call it an upgrade though - more of a sidestep.

As for your comment about getting more "high-end" cans to go with your Corda, don't let their pricepoint cause you to short-change the DT531's. They are GREAT headphones, period. You're gonna be up in RS-1 or K701 territory if you really want to seriously best them IMHO. Even then it's more a matter of personal taste and preference than anything else.
