Has anyone tried Audio-Technica ATH-CM5 Aluminum Stick Earphones?

I just got them recently. I really like the sound a lot. It has much better bass and is much more clear than the iPod stock buds. They are a world apart. A couple of things to note.

1. The cord is asymmetrical - after the split, the left ear cord is much shorter than the right, so the cord hangs down the left side.

2. The cord is quite short. If you're not using a device with a remote, you'll need the extension cord (included).

3. They are a bit large. I have small ears and I can just barely get a good fit.

4. They seem very well built. Anodized aluminum sticks (they are long) with a rubber joint between the stick and the bud. This is good because if the cord gets pulled while you're wearing them they will flex and not necessarily pull out of your ear

5. Again, I really like the sound. When you get a good fit I'd say they're not that far behind my new e2s.

I'd say they were a good buy. No one seemed able to recommend a good earbud other than the Sennheiser MX500 (which I have not heard), so I just took a leap of faith. I say if the cord things mentioned above don't bother you and your ears are not small, go for it.

Is one side longer so that the cord goes around your neck to reach the other ear? i.e. - the cord to the right earbud compared to the left is longer, so that the wire is long enough to go behind your head before putting it into your right ear. Hope I made some sense, as the mx500 was the same way.

My MX400's aren't that way, but it would make sense that that's the way it goes.

Yes, the cord goes around the back of your neck.
I have both MX500s and CM-5s, and CM-5s are much better.
They have the treble of 888lps and the best bass I've heard in earbuds.
I don't see how much CM-7s/EC-7s can improve on them.

I would buy e888 instead. They are great for Classical Music, especial for Piano. I feel that these Sony's do a pretty convincing job. and they do provide you with a more complete musical experience.

I have both e888s and CM-5s, and CM-5s are much better. These Audio Technica really gives me very good impression. They've the quality and design of B&O. About listening, both e888 and CM5 are about the low-end phones i'd even consider listening classic music. However, CM5 is better than e888 because they're much clearer and more detailed. Also, it's a lot cheaper to get a CM5. I bought mine from igearbox.com for US$45.
