Has anyone heard these $169,000 speaker cables?

Well, I really don't understand why nobody's replied yet with their impressions on the sound - I mean, you clearly posted your inquiry in the correct forum. I almost bought a set myself a while back, but the shipping quote from UPS was outrageous

They're actually asking only$16900. It's a steal

Anyway, since you're a Headfier, and I'm such a nice guy, I will build you an identical cable for a measely $5500. It's the least I can do

.

Seriously, the cable contains about $50 worth of parts. Don't believe me, you commie, well take a look at this:

...errr....well, they took down the site....but somone did a dissection of it and found that it contained the following....

- lots of epoxy glue, as filler

- an inductor

- a resistor and a capacitor, wired together as a zobel network

$16,000

I don't believe you! Yay for being a commie!

Actualy I do, I just like communism. It's a great idea in theory, now if only we could get rid of the fact that humans will be using it...

Yeah, but that cable was most likely designed (by excessively well-paid engineers) to insane specifications and could probably survive a nuclear war.

The cable on audiogon is a freaking interconnect! Who the heck pays $17K for an audio cable???

It just bothers me that they're marketed as transparent, when anyone with at least a seeing eye dog can tell that they're opaque. Now, the Emperor's new clothes, those were transparent. Maybe this is the mid-fi relative of the Emperor's new interconnect?

Wow a whole order of magnitude reduction in price after your misreading. Imagine if you suddenly realized the HD650's were just $30 instead of ~$300!

Very curious the shape of those cables, the large glob in the middle with four tiny stubs/legs, and the two long and thin "snakes" protruding from it.

Is it only me or does anyone else see the a similarity between those cables and a diplodocus?

This similarity makes me especulate whether such cables might be facing any risk of extinction.

PS. Check out the bottom of this table for the prices of some other dinosaurs, I mean, pricey cables.
