It happens infrequently with my Xonar DX and it's quite a shock to hear. It's deafening static that randomly blares when starting or tracking through videos. Is this a problem with the entire line or just some random stroke of bad luck, like a faulty or failing card? I've seen some other cases of people experiencing it.

Did you disable the motherboard's on-board audio, in the BIOS, when you installed the Xonar DX?
Small chance active on-board will have an effect on an add-on internal sound card.
 
Maybe even try different PCI-E slots, on the motherboard.

I have this problem with a Xonar DX. Did you ever find any solution? I will probably replace it at this rate because it's deafening.
