    The last great decade.

Even the most exhaustive 90's bands list on wikipedia doesn't even mention Serial Joe. That played so often

For me, it was the last point in time the arts were memorable(this probably means I'm getting like those folks when I was growing up claiming their generation was better than ours, but we were the generation before the millenials that was reminded of that. Good for nothing slackers. LOL.).

Our generation provided Rodney Mullen, showing what an ollie should be. And it looked damn near impossible, but Rodney showed it's possible.

Epic. I remember watching skaters on tv back then. This guy is phenomenal.

One guitar god from the 80's. He shows what alternate picking is, so that must be alternative rock.

NIce stuff y'all. Some of these groups I remember, and some not so much.

I was trying to think of other artists that mix rap/hip-hop with punk, metal or other hard-rock sounds similar to the Chili Peppers, and what I came up with were the following...

    The Beastie Boys
    Cypress Hill
    Eminem
    Fishbone
    Ice-T
    Public Enemy
    RunDMC

Might be something else to look at.

A couple of metal-inspired tracks by Fishbone. If you've never heard this group before, their music runs the gamut, from ska, to funk, to punk and metal, and beyond. So these two tracks aren't necessarily typical. I saw them open for other acts several times, and they always did a good live show.

This one is getting pretty metallic, but there's still a bit of alt- in there, esp. toward the end.
