I'm surprised there's no thread on this already. I think this is a great album. The band is definitely maturing their sound when you compare this album and Keep It Together with their earlier albums. "One Man Wrecking Machine," "Satellite," and "The Captain" really stand out for me, but really the whole album is great.

I think Guster is very underrated and underappreciated. They are remarkable because they are so consistent. Both within albums and across their discography, they just write awesome pop-rock-folk songs. I can't think of a song I'd skip when listening to Guster. It's really a band where when they announce a new album you can feel comfortable just going to the store and buying it blind.

Any other fans?

I'm a Guster fan. They're a really accessible band, and write some very catchy tunes. Have you heard their Live on Ice from Portland album?

I have not heard their live album. I've seen them live when they came to my school and I've heard some stuff from archive.org. It seems they don't deviate too much from their albums when they're onstage except they do fun covers. Do you think it's worth it to get Guster On Ice?

If you're a fan of live music it's worth it. That's the first thing I check out when I get into a new band, I just love listening to live music. Plus, like you said, they don't deviate much from the studio recordings, and they pull it off well.

Guster has some quality tunes (Demons/Two Points For Honesty for example) but there are some songs where their lead singer just sounds horrible. I tend to have to skip around their albums

Their show in houston last night was a hoot.

I love watching the percussionist (i'll not debase him and call him a drummer).

Oh, and does anyone else have the collector's edition of Keep It Together and noitce a constant background hum that makes it unlistenable on decent gear?

I saw Guster open up for O.A.R. at a small venue here in Arizona. I wasn't all that impressed. O.A.R. put on a good show though.

Guster opening for OAR, huh? I feel like I'm in bizarro world.

I liked Guster a lot a few years ago. Lost and Gone Forever was my favorite album all through high-school. I haven't really liked them as much since though, I dunno. Their last album wasn't all that bad, but it's got some silly nasty recording errors.

Maybe "open up" was a bad way to put it. It was some kind of 'Bud True Music' night thing and Guster played first, actually. Then there was... Howie Day, and then some other crappy band, and then O.A.R. was the headliner.
