https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/hifi-devices/aune-xc1-master-clock-ocxo-10mhz-silver-p-16519.htmlThere's an EtherRegen in Classifieds if somebody is interested.
Especially for those who have masterclocks and FMCs.
I agree with Mickey here but could be even worse. Not familiar with it. But at 300eur, i guess the difference would be minimal or the same against the internal clock of the R26.
1500 Euro for the gustard or lhy is just was to much just for a clock. That is the same i paid for the r26I agree with Mickey here but could be even worse.
I can’t find any phase noise measurements.
The entry model LHY ock-1 is ~350usd on AliExpress. The LMR400 cable is ~15usd.1500 Euro for the gustard or lhy is just was to much just for a clock. That is the same i paid for the r26
Yes, no measurements shown anywhere, and I've looked, there is a comparison using the R26 with this new kid on the block from Aune. There is this which just has a wonderful introduction into the Korean language. Go to around 18mins into the vid and you actually get the chance to hear the difference between the R26 alone and the R26 with Aune XC1 OCXO clock and forward a little and a little more comparison between the two (via Youtube compression, I couldn't hear much of a difference but that doesn't mean anything via a compressed streamed internet source)I agree with Mickey here but could be even worse.

You can pick this Aune XC1 clock up for a bit less in the EU for as little as €269 from The Netherlands. https://www.hifistudio79.nl/product/aune-xc1-audio-clock-high-quality-ocxo/?lang=en. Interesting......
Anyway, my point is that a decent enough OCXO clock can be bought, fully packaged, for around €270 plus carriage from a decent established brand. This is a good thing.
I can't see a company like Aune not using quality components to achieve the best results, they seem more professional and more established than they were say six years ago.
If you are like me and always want an upgrade path, this OCXO clock does have an external PSU input rated at 9v DC. This is even better for simple non invasive improvements...... Why not try an external decent quality 9v LPS to feed this clock to improve the sound quality. Another admirable thing.
I have owned and modded Aune headphone amp products in the past and they are good quality. They deliver good sound.
I wouldn't discount this offering before anyone has had a chance to evaluate it properly, Aune are a serious audiophile company, I believe. (No affiliation at all!)
I suppose the nearest competitor is the LHY OCK-1 at around €400 with its own LPS PSU, but it looks a bit underdeveloped in terms of sophistication on the PSU compared to the OCK-2 ..... , you'd expect this because of the cost difference, any comments?
I think we are talking more about the principle of using an external clock to reclock the internal clock of the R26 and any other DAC for that matter which has the facility.Wise words. Question is if those cheaper option will give a noticble improvement and if the expensive ones improvement warrant the price tag
Mickey, great fast editing of the vid, kudos...... there was time I could impress my peers with doing tech.......Just saw the YT video. W/ the Aune clock the soundstage opened a bit, piano has bit more resonnance/reverb. BUT strident to my taste. I like it more w/out the clock. Intimate, warm sounding. Well each has its preference. Liked to its time frames for comparo
W/out clock vs W/ Aune Clock and Rapid comparison
Sugar..... forget to mention, I'm the same about the sound, couldn't hear a real positive benefit with using the Aune XC1 on the YouTube vid. I'm pretty sure from what the reaction was from the reviewers there must have been a 'wow' moment.......... could be wrong though...I think we are talking more about the principle of using an external clock to reclock the internal clock of the R26 and any other DAC for that matter which has the facility.
What real benefits will an external clock give the system compared to other other tweaks and enhancements, using FMC, Delockers and WiFi extenders to isolate noise from the Lan? These all work very well.
We have to keep things in check, all these tweaks are fairly inexpensive, I believe from what I've read that an external clock will have a positive benefit to the overall sound having read so much about the subject on this thread. It's been said...
But will just moving to just the 'budget' good external clocks available reap enough rewards? I believe so, as the law of demishing returns on a music system dictates.
A decent external 10Mhz clock for the R26 probably will be a good investment, having not experienced the effect, as I have said before I am too long in the tooth to get too excited. I still want to try my Allo Kali with the correct 22Mhz and 24Mhz clocks suitable for R2R DACs into the R26....... from a Allo Isolator and Rpi3 suitably powered.
I have high hopes of using a decent reclocked I2S into the R26 reaping positive results. Also I look forward to the lack of f*&**g audio drop outs when changing from 16/44.1 to 24/88.2 or 24/96 using Jplay (IOS) or BubbleuPnP (Android) whilst using the existing Lan setup to the R26.
When going from 16/44.1 to 768Mhz never a glitch, can't understand it, always plays beautifully, but with 16/44/1 to 24/88.2 or 24/96 it's not ideal, not always, but enough to irritate. I start to play Leonard Cohen 'a thousand kisses deep' and it drops out for the first 10 seconds or so.... very irritating.
Must be a buffer related issue on the R26. Has anyone else had this issue? Can't believe there has been more said on this problem....
