it's quite clear, no noise. resolution is top notch.. beats all the spdif cables in my signature with this particular application.

(please: no guys saying it's placebo.. go make a comparison and don't get zip cord a and zip cord b and say there's no difference.)

i bet if the same cord was in ugly packaging and whole thing was grey colored, you would not even post this thread.
let alone the mere fact that you even spent money on this.

Of course isn't placebo. You're a very intelligent man, Leslie, and have surely invested your money wisely.

Have you changed your hard drive cables, though? Many people forget that the audio also passes through the hard drive cable, which can be of inferior quality and damage the details and sound stage. Any SATA or IDE cable that costs less than $200 is probably not doing it's job well for audio applications. You may get all the bits through for regular data applications, but you need really thick cables with gold plating to preserve sound stages etc.

Maybe they are "killing" the bits to, isn't there an audiophile CPU ?

I'd also like to point out that Benchmark Media Systems (manufacturer of the very well regarded DAC1) has published the results of extensive tests that show 100% accurate bit rendering between certain MP3 players and the end of a regular old usb cable. Meaning: the usb cable (nor this particular MP3 player) changes the data stream.

you can run the 0404 usb with coaxial in or optical in and set either internal or external clock for the s/pdif in.

Don't bother about other peoples opinion.
What matters is that you are pleased with the sound, and that there are an audible difference to your ears using your gear.
