GS1000 earpads for MS2i ?

Oct 21, 2007 at 8:50 PM Post #2 of 20
they'll fit
but i heard it sucks the life outta non-GS1000 grados

then again, i've never heard the gs1000 or seen the pads
but they do look comfy

...i wonder what would happen if you use them with liberators

They will work with any Grado and any (as far as I know) Alessandro can.

While they will significantly improve comfort it may come at the cost of soundquality. Give it a shot, to me, they are well worth the money for other Grados beside GS1000 because of the comfort. If you want to lay down and just relax with some music and not have to be bothered by uncomfortable pads, they are ideal.

According to him, "This jumbo size is for the Grado GS-1000 Headphones Only. "

I have several Grados in my posession besides GS1000, they all work with the Jumbo Bowls.

Nice, can you comment on how it effects the SQ? If you can, specifically for the Sr-60?

I have tried it with MSPRO and they sounded very thin. What you can try is cutting the edge of the bowls for like 1 cm and then see what happened. I would like to do it as well, using with SR225 or SR325i, but the price of the bowls just to high.

Sweet! I was just wondering this same thing. I have SR225's coming in the mail and I find the bowls slightly uncomfortable (I have small ears and instead of touching the padding, they touch the driver housing). I might get these eventually, just to see if they are worth it. Can someone post a picture of them on headphones besides the GS-1000? They look fine on the GS-1000 because of the huge housing, but I'm not sure what they'll look like on other Grado models.

Hey guys, they suck with other Grado's, so I don't understand the whole hype up here. They were designed for GS1k only, that's it.
If you want more comfort, wash the bowls or buy other phones. Also you can buy flats or comfys, but you have to like the sound as well, which isn't the same as with bowls. The best invest you could do is buy LIBERATORS, but unfortunately they are out of production, at least for now.

I would hardly call this 11 post thread "hype" unless I missed previous threads over the same thing

No one has claimed they improve SQ on any other Grados. Anyway, I like the bowl sound, but they're not the most comfy for me. I prefer modded HD414 pads but I'm going to give bowls another try when my SR225's come in.

Here you go.

I for myself prefer the sound of my HF-1 with the big bowls. The range of music I can actually enjoy with it has become twice as wide as with the normal bowls. But I agree that there are certain Grados out there that just don't work with them. But IMHO every Grado-owner should at least try it!

Don't waist your money. Like I wrote they do not sound good with SR225 or MSPRO. Soon I will try them with SR325i, but do not expect a lot, to tell you the true.

Thanks so much! I will definitely give them a try since, if I do end up preferring them, they seem to be MUCH more comfortable! Thanks

See? I think it's the exact opposite.
The grado "punch" hides a lot of ... let me call it "audiophile potential". The GS1000 bowls just show a different side of your Grado that -of course- you have to like. If you are looking for a Grado because of the image Grado has then the GS1000 bowls are not for you. But if you are open to a new sound signature and if you can forgett you are listening to a Grado right now anything may happen.

Oh and BTW, I think a lot of the things that make the GS1000 a "good" headphone (though not 'reference' in my ears) simply comes from the pads. Ever tried a GS1000 with normal bowls?

And why not give a normal Grado a bit of the "hi-end spark" that these pads can provide?
