On page 34 of the current (June 28, 2007) issue of Rolling Stone, there is a photo of Courtney Love singing onstage together with her producer, Linda Perry. Perry is playing a green-bodied acoustic guitar, and is wearing headphones that are almost certainly Grados with rather-prominent squared-off wood cups. I'm not a good enough spotter to discern exactly which model they might be, or even if they're Alessandros, but I know some of the eagle eyes here can make a positive ID.

Is there any chance that you could post a picture of the picture (ha!) so we can get a better idea of what you're talking about? (Assuming there are no copyright issues, etc.)

It's pretty hard to get the GS1000 mixed up with another Grado. It has a very unique shell.

I did a quick search for photos already on the web, and I found a couple of photos of the same event, almost as clear.

How do you know they're RS-1 and not RS-2?

You can also tell from the size of the button relative to the chamber and the depth of the chamber. From the album cover, the diameter of the chamber actually looks a lot more like the RS-2 but the depth of the chamber and narrowness of the bump relative to the chamber suggests that this is most likely the RS-1.

Great work on the definitive ID!

Now explain why she'd choose open phones for on-stage monitoring in such a loud environment and not IEM's?

Also, the RS1 has a full-circle metallic ring holding the cup where as the RS2 has a 3/4 circle plastic ring holding the cup.

One question for rockbottom or any other people who'll know the answer to this question because I can't remember: What shape are the rods on the RS-1? I seem to remember them being pentagonal or square shaped. The RS-2 rods are round.

Islewind, to be honest, I have no idea. Maybe because she wants to be able to hear the crowd, or maybe it just looks darn cool
