Does anyone think this would be a well matched set? I'm using the dac in my AZUR 540R for the time being, which in my opinion is pleasant but detailed. I have access to another dac in my mbox 2 which is probably a bit better for reference, but gosh it sounds ugly! I'm looking for clarity and detail.

Which Ety?
Green solo beautifully drive my low impedance Denon D2000 headphone, and I found it suitable as well with Grado RS-2.
But driving IEM seems overkill to me.

x2.

Why would you bother using a desktop amp with a IEM that is inherently designed to be used on the go?

Because:
My mobile source is ALAC but from an ipod mini
Therefore splashing out on a good ipod line out and headphone amp doesn't seem very justifiable
But, I want from what I've heard the etymotics have loads of detail and I'm looking for detail and transparency (in terms of eq) when at home as a useful way of monitoring my mixes (I record ye local bands)
So the Solo, which I can get at quite a reasonable price seemed like a good option because:
At home home I could use the etymotics ER4-Ps with the cable that converts them into ER-4Ss
And out and about I could them as normal ER4-Ps
Rubbish idea?

Rubbish? absolutely not...
But to me, portable amp would sufficient enough to drive any earphone/canalphone - but well don't limit your self when you can afford

One more thing, I tried to drive my Yuin PK-1 (150 ohm) with Green Solo - They sound lovely, so it won't be a problem for your Ety ER-4

That's great. You see down the line, the very long line of 000s I'm accumulating in student debt (****ing interest rates, no one cares how it affects students), I plan to grab myself the HD650s or 600s. Cheers Capunk!
