Yes, I do feel that the Chord products have an exceptional sound quality.
I bought the Mojo I think 3 years ago and tested it against the €4000 DAC in my stereo setup.
I had bought that DAC around 2000, so it's quite old.
Mojo was clearly better. More detail, dynamics, soundstage and smoother and fluid. More "analog"
Replaced the old DAC with a Chord 2Qute. No complaints, excellent SQ.
Bought a Sony NW-ZX2 (MRSP $1200) to compare with Mojo. Preferred the Mojo.
Last year I found a used Hugo 2 and went to test it. I was sceptical about how much better it could be compared to the Mojo.
Hugo 2 is better. Shows limitations of Mojo. Mojo has excellent mids, detailed and fluid, with a warm and slightly softer bass and smooth treble. Super enjoyable. Soundstage was much deeper than what I had heard before.
Hugo 2 is much more defined, every note from lowest sub-bass to highest treble is equally defined, textured and detailed. Faster leading edge and more defined decay.
Soundstage is deeper and wider with more focused imaging.
I still kept the Mojo. It's a great portable unit and I can listen to it for hours, just enjoying the music.
The Hugo demands more attention.
EDIT: I find that the Chord DAC/Amps shine with acoustic recordings, because their ability to bring out the correct timing and timbre depends on good digital data.
My portable setup: Mojo stacked with HiBy R3 DAP in 3D printed housing
