Hey all,

Just wondering what your thoughts were on the Apple iPod Touch. I'm thinking about making the purchase, but just wondering if there's other players that have the wifi/pda capabilities for the same, if not better, price/specs (audio quality, features, etc.).

Thanks in advance, take care everyone!

I have an iPod touch 32 GB, it has some features like creates notes, maps, Safari which works fast and good, watching youtube is also fine, calculator, eMail works fine too, Weather reports and also can view some contacts.s . I think it would be perfect too if it has an Instant messaging w/o having to jailbreak it. But all the features listed is going to need a Wi-Fi spot. The interface is cool for me.

SQ wise i think the HP out is pretty good. Don't know if you'll like it, but i do like it.

Awesome, thanks for quick reply!

Quick questions:
- Can you "lock" it (for when I put it in my pocket, like a HOLD button)
- You said no IM? (MSN,Pidgin,AIM,etc.) Will they come out with it?

I'm looking at the 8GB, my price range is around $200-$350. Also, Wi-Fi is no prob since I'm in college and on campus, or at the airport, hehe. Just looking for PDA with:
- Wi-Fi
- Web Browser
- Email
- IM
- PDA stuff: notes, calendar, etc..
- not TOO bulky (fit in pant or chest pocket)

Thanks thus far!

Of course you can lock it! it's even more simple than locking an iPod classic

, you just have to press a "lock" button. the device is so slim, about 0,6 - 0,7 cm from what i've measured. It's way slimmer than my old o2 XDA. unfortunately IM isn't availabe now to unjailbreaked version, but i really confident that it'll be released soon (for non-jailbreaked touch).

8 GB is maybe too small but 32 Gb is perfect for me! But if you just need the web browsing and all other fancy stuff, it'll satisfy you. IMO compared to all other Windows mobile device, the interface is waaaaay cooler.

Do a little search here and else where on the web and you will see how Apple plans to really open up both the iTouch and iPhone in May. 3rd party software, etc. I am sure there will be many options for IM. I myself love it. Sold my Palm TX- the touch is better in almost every way for my needs. If you have an apple computer their really is nothing else that will sync this easily.

you can do instant messaging on an ipod touch by simply going to meebo - online web IM for AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk messengers and signing on, its very simple and easy

RESOLVED!

Thanks everyone for all the help, resources, and information. I ultimately bought the iPod Touch and have never been happier, this DEFINATELY suits my needs. (Only I have an iPod 5G Video which I do not know what to do with now, haha!)
