I've been using Shure foams with the Custom 1s to excellent results but I just now tried some silicone Shure sleeves. Unaltered, the sleeves fit into the ear too far and don't provide proper sealing/sound dynamics. I cut about 3 to 5mm from the stem of the sleeves and they are sealing/fitting perfectly and the sound quality is outstanding. The compound of chemicals that make up these rubber sleeves must be such that allows them to adhere to the ear canal. That, and the sleeves have an inner wall the helps create a vacuum or suction in the ear. So far they are doing excellently and the isolation is quite good.
